Conyers Golf Cart Map
Independent path map, local golf cart rules and official sources for Conyers, Georgia.
Conyers has a designated motorized-cart street district rather than a general path network. Carts may use only streets shown on the City’s Motorized Cart Map and posted for cart use; the Olde Town Conyers Trail is specifically excluded. City registration is required before street use.
About this map
This map uses OpenStreetMap data for orientation, not navigation. Paths may be missing, outdated or incorrectly tagged. A mapped line does not confirm permission, public access, a connected route, or safe and suitable conditions. Follow current local rules, signs, closures and property restrictions. Terms & Disclaimer
Olde Town orientation. This partial map shows a 1.0-mile subset of Olde Town streets, not the complete Golf Cart District. Mileage describes only the lines displayed here. No displayed miles meet our explicit OSM cart criteria; 0.0 does not mean carts are prohibited. Displayed lines do not establish legal cart access, and omitted streets are not necessarily prohibited. Check the City’s district map and posted signs.
Before you drive
Conyers permits motorized carts on the public streets designated on its Motorized Cart Map and posted with signs authorizing cart use. Designated streets cannot have a speed limit above 35 mph; a low speed limit alone does not make a street eligible. The cart must have current city registration, and its driver must hold a valid license.
Getting around by golf cart
The city has designated streets for registered carts, with an official map defining where the district applies. This is a bounded street-use arrangement, not permission to use every road or trail in Conyers.
Practical rules
Registration and permits
Register the cart with the City of Conyers before street use. The registration year runs from July 1 through June 30, and operators must check that registration is current. The owner must be at least 18, hold a valid driver’s license and sign the application in their own name, supplying the cart’s make, model, VIN or serial number and owner/contact information. Keep the city decal affixed visibly to the rear. It cannot transfer to another cart or owner; a new owner must register before using the cart on city streets.
LSV notes
Conyers treats low-speed vehicles separately from motorized carts. Its code defines an LSV as a four-wheel electric vehicle capable of more than 20 mph but no more than 25 mph and manufactured to the specified federal LSV standard. LSVs need city registration and any required Georgia registration before street use. They must carry required insurance proof and display an amber strobe visible from 500 feet to the front and rear. The designated-street, equipment and driver-license requirements also apply.
Insurance notes
The city code makes owners and operators responsible for obtaining liability insurance and verifying that it covers their cart use on Conyers public streets. Low-speed vehicles and personal transportation vehicles that do not qualify as motorized carts must carry proof of the minimum coverage required by state law.
Driver rules
Drivers must hold a current, valid license that permits them to operate a motor vehicle on Georgia roads. The code accepts qualifying licenses from Georgia, another US state or an international issuing agency. The separate requirement to register a cart is age 18 or older with a valid license; this is not stated as the minimum driver age.
Streets and crossings
Do not drive on or cross a public street that is not designated for cart use on the City of Conyers Motorized Cart Map. An intersection with a designated street does not by itself authorize the crossing.
Restricted areas
The code prohibits cart operation on sidewalks, multi-purpose paths including the Olde Town Conyers Trail, parks, playgrounds, greenspace, front yards and City rights-of-way other than approved public streets.
Local cautions
Keep an unobstructed rearward view, carry no more than one person per manufacturer-designed seat, and keep everyone seated with their bodies inside the cart. Traffic, DUI and open-container laws apply. Reckless or aggressive driving and lane splitting are prohibited; racing is prohibited except at a City-approved special event. Carts cannot operate as taxis or vehicles for hire, and all-terrain vehicles are prohibited on City public property. Parking on sidewalks, in parks, playgrounds, greenspace or other City rights-of-way is prohibited except in spaces designated by the property owner for that purpose.

FAQs
Can I use the Olde Town Conyers Trail or cross an undesignated road?
No. The city code specifically excludes the Olde Town Conyers Trail and other multi-purpose paths. It also prohibits operating on or crossing public streets that are not designated on the Motorized Cart Map.
What equipment does a cart need?
The city requires suitable brakes including a parking brake; a working reverse warning device; a main power switch whose key or activating device is removable only when off; headlights, reflectors, tail lamps, front and rear turn signals, a horn, a rearview mirror, safety warning labels, hip restraints and handholds. Headlights and tail lamps must be on whenever the cart is used. Gas-powered carts must retain a secure, working exhaust system and functioning manufacturer emissions controls, without excessive smoke, fumes, backfiring or loud noise, and are subject to City inspection. Low-speed vehicles also need the amber strobe specified in the code.
Is there an automatic registration exemption for visitors?
No general visitor exemption is stated in this chapter. The City Manager may waive registration for nonresidents at a designated special event lasting no more than seven calendar days. That is a discretionary event-specific exception, not permission to arrive with an unregistered cart.
What does Conyers mean by a motorized cart?
The city definition covers vehicles with at least three wheels, an unladen weight of no more than 1,300 pounds and a maximum capability of 20 mph. A personal transportation vehicle that also meets that definition is treated as a motorized cart under this chapter. Other personal transportation vehicles and low-speed vehicles have additional requirements; check the full code for your vehicle.
