About this map

This map uses OpenStreetMap data for orientation, not navigation. Paths may be missing, outdated or incorrectly tagged. A mapped line does not confirm permission, public access, a connected route, or safe and suitable conditions. Follow current local rules, signs, closures and property restrictions. Terms & Disclaimer

This partial map shows reviewed shared-use paths around Town Center, Pelican Trail and Heron Trail. All displayed paths are purple because they lack explicit golf-cart tagging in OpenStreetMap.

Road-crossing gaps remain at Tidecrest Parkway, Willow Falls Trail, Palm Valley Road, Hunters Lake Way, Nocatee Center Drive, Adventure Trail, Maverick Way and Town Center road interfaces. The short Heron section in Duval and its county-boundary crossings are omitted. The separate sections provide orientation, not a continuous permitted journey.

In June 2024, Nocatee's developer described more than 30 miles of Greenway Trails used for several activities, including golf-carting. That figure is not verified golf-cart mileage, and this map covers only part of the system.

Before you drive

These are the main conditions to identify before planning a trip. The detailed rules and official sources follow below.

In unincorporated St. Johns County, golf carts may use county roads designated and marked for cart use and appropriately marked multi-use sidewalks. A low speed limit alone does not authorize access. The multi-use speed limit is 15 mph; yield to pedestrians and bicycles. County rules allow sunrise-to-sunset operation unless the county has designated night operation and the cart has headlights, brake lights, turn signals and a windshield. Carts also need effective brakes, reliable steering, safe tires, a rear-view mirror and red reflectors at the front and rear, plus a horn or other warning device on multi-use sidewalks.

Nocatee golf cart rules

Low-speed vehicles (LSVs)

St. Johns County treats low-speed vehicles separately from golf carts. LSVs may use county roads posted at 35 mph or less unless prohibited, and may cross a higher-speed or prohibited road at an intersection. They require a valid driver’s license, title, registration, insurance, headlights, stop lamps, turn signals, tail lamps, reflectors, parking brakes, mirrors, a windshield, seat belts and a vehicle identification number.

Driver requirements

For golf carts on public roads or streets under the St. Johns County ordinance, drivers under 18 must possess a valid learner’s driver license or driver license. Drivers 18 or older must possess valid government-issued photo identification.

Restricted areas

These county rules apply to unincorporated St. Johns County. Private and community-development-district roads need their own applicable authorization; a trail or road shown online is not proof of access.

Use this as a planning summary. Local rules and posted controls can change; check the linked official rules and signs before you ride.

Know before you go

This guide and map cover the reviewed St. Johns County areas around Town Center, Pelican Trail and Heron Trail. Jacksonville/Duval is outside our verified coverage because we could not verify the roads, paths and conditions covered by its final approval.

The rules summarized here cover unincorporated St. Johns County; they do not establish permission in Jacksonville’s portion of Nocatee. The community’s older cart-map page still gives an age rule that differs from the 2024 county amendment. Use the enacted county documents for that requirement, check posted designations, and confirm water-park guest access with Nocatee Resident Services.
